Our mission at Beyond A Bike is empowering communities by mobilizing wheels of hope and words of change through bicycles and scripture.
Beyond A Bike is partnering with Rwandan communities and evolving bicycles into wheels of hope and scripture into words of change, empowering people to transform their future. We are focused on mobilizing people so they can travel further and transport more through bicycles.
Bicycles are fun to ride, but for so many people in this world, one bike can completely change the lives of an entire community. In Rwanda, housing is often far away from schools and markets; even water sources are not always nearby, causing people to have to walk several miles to access these things. Imagine…a single mom being able to transport her young children to and from school on a bicycle, instead of having to walk for hours and hours to make sure they have an opportunity to learn. A hungry family sending someone to the store miles away and being able to bring home enough food to feed them all. A neighbor being able to help a friend in need of a ride to get some water. To these people, a bicycle isn’t just a fun thing to ride…it is a symbol and a means of hope for a better life.
We plan to create entrepreneurs by teaching people how to fix and maintain bicycles, a valuable trade that can help them build businesses and earn some money of their own. We will also help open local bike shops where people can buy, sell, or bring their bicycles in for repairs and maintenance, which will help boost the economy in the area.
But Beyond A Bike doesn’t want to stop there! Our God-sized plan is to spread the word and the love of Jesus. A Holy Bible in Kinyarwanda (their native language) is also given with each bike. These printed materials can easily be shared with family, friends, and neighbors, helping spread Jesus’s message of love, acceptance, forgiveness, and hope.
